Oakland, CA – Fatal Motorcycle Crash on I-80 E/Powell St.

Oakland, CA (October 19, 2025) – A deadly accident involving a motorcycle and another vehicle shut down several lanes on I-80 eastbound near the Powell Street off-ramp on Sunday afternoon, October 19. The crash occurred around 2:55 p.m. when a motorcycle collided with an unidentified vehicle, leaving the rider critically injured in the middle lanes. Responding officers from the California Highway Patrol confirmed that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts. Multiple lanes were closed as the coroner and investigators arrived to assess the scene. Tow trucks and emergency crews worked to clear debris and the damaged vehicles, causing extended traffic delays throughout the Bay Area. The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of the family.
