Salt Lake City, UT – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-80 Causes Injuries

Salt Lake City, UT (September 15, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash involving a box truck, a Subaru, and a semi-truck caused injuries and a hazardous diesel spill on Interstate 80 westbound on September 15. The Utah Highway Patrol reported that the box truck attempted to merge out of construction-closed lanes when it struck a Subaru sedan. The impact caused the Subaru to collide with a semi-truck traveling in the right lane, rupturing its fuel tank.
Officials estimate that between 100 and 150 gallons of diesel spilled across the roadway. Hazmat teams and the Utah Department of Transportation responded to contain the spill while traffic was diverted. The driver and passenger of the Subaru were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. UHP investigators are continuing to piece together the events that led to the crash.
We wish a full recovery to those injured in this accident.
