
Sacramento, CA – Three-Car Accident Ends in Injuries on I-80 near Longview Dr


Sacramento, CA (August 17, 2025) – A serious hit-and-run accident involving three vehicles left at least one person injured late Thursday night, August 14, along eastbound Interstate 80 near Longview Drive. The collision was first reported at approximately 11:37 p.m., drawing a rapid response from California Highway Patrol (CHP) units and emergency crews.
According to CHP dispatch, the crash escalated into a chaotic scene when one vehicle careened off the freeway and landed on Roseville Road below. Officials noted that at least two of the cars appeared to have been racing prior to the collision, a violation of Vehicle Code 23109. Firefighters joined officers at the scene, where the incident was flagged under a “998” code due to the severity of the situation.
Preliminary reports confirmed that several vehicles were damaged and at least one individual required urgent medical care. Portions of the interstate and nearby on-ramps were shut down temporarily while crews conducted rescues, provided treatment, and worked to secure the roadway.
Authorities further reported that one driver fled the scene, classifying the crash as a felony hit-and-run. The investigation is still underway as officials work to piece together the events leading up to the wreck and to locate all parties involved.
