Omaha, NE – Multiple Injuries Reported in Crash Involving Semi on I-80 W at I-480 Off-Ramp

Omaha, NE (July 23, 2025) – A crash involving a semi-truck and SUV left four people injured Tuesday evening, July 22, on I-80 West near the I-480 off-ramp.

Omaha Police said a 2023 Toyota Highlander struck debris in the roadway around 5:19 p.m. and moved into the painted median. A westbound 2025 Volvo semi-tractor hauling cardboard also hit the debris, then lost control and collided with the Toyota.

The semi continued onto the I-480 off-ramp, crashing into a guardrail and coming to a stop on the grass shoulder past the 24th St bridge. The semi and its trailer caught fire shortly after.

The 55-year-old man driving the Toyota was taken to Nebraska Medicine with possible serious injuries. Three adult passengers in the SUV were also transported for treatment of various injuries. The 44-year-old semi driver was not hurt.
