Omaha, NE – Five-Car Wreck Results in Injuries on I-80 near S 60th St

Omaha, NE (August 23, 2025) – A major five-vehicle accident occurred early Wednesday morning, August 20, on westbound Interstate 80 near South 60th Street, resulting in injuries and prompting a large emergency response. Rescue teams were dispatched to provide on-scene care and transport at least one patient to the hospital.

The collision was reported shortly before 5:48 a.m. Vehicles involved were scattered across both the inside and outside shoulders, creating challenges for traffic flow and emergency access. At least one individual required inpatient transport, signaling a serious injury.

Omaha Police coordinated efforts at the crash scene while also managing an unrelated theft report at a nearby Walmart, highlighting the demands placed on early-morning emergency services.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those injured, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Traffic in the westbound lanes of I-80 was heavily delayed, with backups expected to continue into the morning commute.
