Fairfield, CA – Multi-Vehicle Accident Causes Injuries on I-80

Fairfield, CA (August 9, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision involving at least three cars caused injuries and traffic slowdowns Friday morning near the interchange of northbound Interstate 680 and Interstate 80 East.

The crash was reported around 9:25 a.m., triggering an emergency medical response. Among the vehicles involved was a light gray van found in the center median, a gray Hyundai Elantra, and a third car that came to rest on the freeway’s right shoulder. Firefighters and paramedics quickly arrived, assessing those injured at the scene. While the severity of injuries has not been disclosed, at least one person received treatment on-site.

A flatbed tow truck was called to remove the silver minivan, which suffered extensive front-end damage. Although all northbound lanes stayed open, activity around the shoulder and median led to slower traffic through the area. California Highway Patrol officers managed traffic flow and assisted in clearing the wreckage to restore normal driving conditions.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with authorities examining factors in this busy interchange zone where I-680 merges with I-80—a known hotspot for heavy traffic and congestion during morning hours.

We wish those affected a full and speedy recovery following this morning’s incident.
