Big Springs, NE – Three Hurt in Head-On Crash on I-80 at MM 108

Big Springs, NE (September 28, 2025) – A head-on collision occurred on westbound Interstate 80 near Big Springs late Sunday afternoon, September 28, leaving three people injured, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Authorities reported that the crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. between mile markers 108 and the Big Springs link.

Nebraska State Patrol officials say a wrong-way driver heading eastbound in the westbound lanes struck another vehicle head-on. The force of the collision caused significant damage, scattering debris across both lanes of traffic. At least three occupants from both vehicles were transported to area hospitals.

Their current conditions have not yet been disclosed. One eyewitness reported seeing another driver flashing headlights in warning shortly before the crash. She said a white pickup attempted to pass her when it collided directly with the wrong-way vehicle. “The vehicles just came apart with debris flying — the impact was deafening,” she recalled.
